Job Summary
The House Father/Mother will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the boarding house, maintaining discipline and routines while supporting students’ personal development and welfare.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish clear standards, monitor student behaviour, oversee daily routines, and work with teaching staff and senior housemasters to support students’ academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consistent, calm, and firm discipline to maintain a respectful and orderly environment.
- Oversee daily routines, including waking, meals, study periods, bedtime, and weekend activities.
- Ensure the boarding house remains clean, secure, and properly maintained.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor to students.
- Monitor student behaviour and address issues appropriately.
- Work with teaching staff and senior housemasters on students’ academic progress and pastoral care.
- Manage conflicts fairly and use sound judgement when dealing with difficult situations.
- Be available on-site for emergencies and student welfare support, with scheduled leave provided.
Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Must be a mature male candidate aged 35 or above.
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Previous experience in a supervisory, disciplinary, pastoral, school, youth work, military, or similar environment is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to maintain authority and command respect.
- Patience, emotional resilience, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Good conflict-resolution abilities.
- Ability to handle difficult or defiant behaviour firmly and fairly.
- High personal integrity, reliability, and commitment to the welfare of young people.
- Good organizational and practical skills.
- Background in education, child development, or counselling is an advantage.
- Must be willing to reside on the premises and be available as required.
